James McManus (born 15 January 1986 in Banff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland) is a Australian professional rugby league footballer for the Newcastle Knights of the National Rugby League. He primarily plays at wing, but he can also play fullback and his preferred position is centre.

McManus moved from Scotland to Australia while in primary school and while living in the Northern Territory played his junior rugby league in Katherine and later for the Palmerston Raiders in Darwin. He graduated to the Northern Territory Institute of Sport's rugby league programme and while playing for the Northern Territory in Darwin in the Australian under-18s championships in 2003 was signed by the Newcastle Knights.[1]

Representative career

He was selected for Country in the City vs Country match on 8 May 2009.[2]

He got injured after playing one match for New South Wales rugby league team for the 2009 State of Origin series, so therefore didn't take part in the rest of the series.
